The Sidney Red Raider Wrestling teams had a busy past week as they competed in Bridgeport on Thursday January 16, 2025, then traveled to Chase County for a Duals competition on January 17, and finally the Chase County Invitational on January 18.
Both the boys and the girls squads wrestled well and had success in all of these competitions. On January 16, the busy stretch started with a Dual competition in Bridgeport. The boys team was able to win by a score of 40-to-36. Individual wins by Pin came from Owen Gillham, Patrick McCartney, Cayson Boltjes, Kaine Hill, Dreyton Wright,and Hayden Sittner. Zech Roggasch earned a Win by Major Decision.
For the girls, Bridgeport was able to get the best of the Sidney squad, winning the dual competition 30-to-18. Saphira Whitley had a Win by Pin, and Leeann Mulleavey and Ravyn Lee had Wins by Open.
The teams traveled to Imperial for a Dual with Chase County on January 17, and the boys were defeated by the Longhorn wrestlers 47-to-33. Patrick McCartney and Ben Gillham had Wins by Pin, Zech Roggasch had a Win by Decision, and Kaine Hill, Dreyton Wright, and Cayson Boltjes had Wins by Open. The girls edged out Chase County 24-to-23 with Wins by Open by Saphira Whitley, Ravyn Lee, Serenity Herrera, and Leeann Mulleavey.
On January 18, the wrestlers competed at the Chase County Invitational. The boys took fifth place with 136.5 points. First Place honors were earned by Zech Roggasch and Patrick McCartney, Cayson Boltjes took Second Place, Dreyton Wright took Third Place, Kaine Hill took Fourth Place and Joseph Johnson took Sixth Place. For the girls, the team placed second with 113.5 points. Jadyn Lee and Saphira Whitley earned First Place honors, Leeann Mulleavey took Second Place, Makena Perez took Third Place, Rene Grumbianin took Fourth Place, Ravyn Lee and Serenity Herrera took Fifth Place and Reina Buettenback and Monro Stewart took Sixth Place.
Both Red Raider wrestling squads are wrestling tough and having great results this season.
