MERINO, CO. -- Call it rust from the holiday layoff or perhaps overlooking a one-win team, but the Peetz Bulldogs just did not have it Saturday, January 11, as they traveled to Merino to take on the Rams. The Bulldogs could not get anything established on offense while the Rams had their highest score of the season, with 45 points. With a team’s high score being only 45 points for the entire season, this was obviously a game the Bulldogs should have had in the bag. Hopefully the 45-to-28 result for the Bulldogs jars them into a sense of urgency and they’re able to
pick up the level of their play.
The Bulldogs host a strong Arickaree team on Wednesday, January 15. This matchup should establish that Peetz’s loss to Merino was just a fluke, and they are good team that had a bad night. After Arickaree, Peetz will face a tough Haxtun team, and then they should be able to grab wins against Prairie and Fleming. It will be interesting to see the reaction the team has getting back on the court against Arickaree and how badly they want to show that they are better than the team that lost to Merino.
