STEVEN M. HEGGEMEYER

Steven M. Heggemeyer, 69 of Kearney passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Memorial Services were hrld on Monday, December 30, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Steven was born October 29, 1955 in Tilden, NE to Russell and Alta (Anderson) Heggemeyer. He was raised in Tilden, NE and graduated from Elkhorn High School in Tilden, NE with the class of 1974. On July 2, 1983, Steve was united in marriage to Betty Bruns at the First Lutheran Church in Kearney.

Steve worked for NPPD for 4 years before he started his career as a truck driver at Cash-Wa in Kearney. He later worked for the City of Kearney and then went back to Cash-Wa retiring in 2015.

Steve enjoyed camping, fishing, small engine repair and grilling/smoking meat. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandson. Steve was a longtime member of AA where he made many friends throughout the years. He was also a member of First Lutheran Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Heggemeyer of Kearney; sons, Jon Heggemeyer and wife, Angie of Kearney, and Kenny Heggemeyer and partner, Elaine Bilyeu of Kansas City, MO; grandson, Grayson Heggemeyer of Kearney; mother, Alta Heggemeyer of Kearney; siblings, Carl (Robin) Heggemeyer of St. Peters, MO, Marvin (Diane) Heggemeyer of Fulton, MO, Loren (Beth) Heggemeyer of Kearney, Diane Hahn of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Flessner of Potter, NE and Carol Brauer of Sidney, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father; brother, Larry Heggemeyer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Effie Bruns; brothers-in-law, Myron Flessner and Mike Brauer.
