South Platte NRD audit and groundwater quality reports presented at the December board meeting

The South Platte Natural Resources District Board met on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Julia Peetz, CPA, Rauner and Associates, PC, presented an analysis of the district's financial performance during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2024.

"The District's total net position, as compared to the prior fiscal year, increased by $69,280.00. Most of this increase is attributable to the decrease in expenditures," said Peetz. "The assets of the District exceeded its liabilities at the close of the fiscal year by $4,021,547.00 (total net position) and the long- term debt decreased by $57,969.00 from FY 2023." Peetz encouraged the board of directors to continue reviewing the monthly treasurer's report. The board approved the audit report.

Ryan Reisdorff, Assistant Manager, SPNRD, summarized the 2024 groundwater quality monitoring program report. "This marks the 36th year of monitoring nitrates in the District," said Reisdorff. "The report indicates higher levels in all subareas; however, the levels do not require changes to the current management controls." Of the 167 network wells in the report, 152 were sampled at least once. Visit http://www.spnrd.org for the full report. All water resource reports are available under the Reports menu.

Certificates were awarded to Director Bill Halligan and Assistant Manager Ryan Reisdorff for 15 years of service. The board acknowledged their dedication to the management of natural resources in the southern panhandle.

The Board of Directors meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month, the Board Agenda and Minutes are available at the office or visit http://www.spnrd.org.
