Potter-Dix’s Coyote Basketball teams have had a rough start to the 2024-25 season, with the Lady Coyotes grabbing a win against a very young and inexperienced Creek Valley team, 41-to-14, but falling in their other two contests; a 56-to-28 loss to Morrill and a 66-to-30 loss to Paxton.

Sophomore Madison Frerichs has been their leading scorer to open the season, with senior Chrystal Dhooge returning and providing solid experience, and junior Micayla McConnell and freshman Alexa Shoemaker rounding out a solid group of players. Again, these are good athletes that need some time playing together to establish a rhythm and develop an effective offensive attack.

The Lady Coyotes have a tough game coming up against Leyton, but then have a string of winnable games ahead. Getting above .500 will help the team gain momentum and elevate their performance. Look for the Lady Coyotes to improve as the season progresses.

The Coyotes have had a very tough start, losing a winnable game against Creek Valley, and two 20+ point losses against Morrill and Paxton. Junior Landon Gasseling has been very good to open the season, averaging 17.5 points per game. Junior Dylan Tabor as an outstanding athlete who can score and plays solid defense. Sophomore Trenton Hickman has been a great addition, scoring well and grabbing rebounds for the Coyotes.

The Coyotes have a tough game ahead against Leyton, and then a must-win game against winless Banner County before a match-up with a tough Wallace team. The Coyotes are another team that just needs to be patient to get all of their talented players in synch. Look for Potter-Dix to be a tough team to beat by the time the Subdistricts come around.
