Table of Grace Provides Thanksgiving Meals to the Community

Director Eads says wouldn't be possible without local contributors

SIDNEY--Table of Grace on Alvarado Road in Sidney is a staple of the community, and for years has been providing meals and services to members of the community who are in need of help. For Thanksgiving, on Monday, November 25, 2024, the volunteers at Table of Grace and their partners provided 60+ Holiday Baskets with turkey, ham, and all the fixings necessary for a proper Thanksgiving meal.

Lee Eads of Table of Grace spoke about the event, saying, "This is a real community effort. First, we need to thank Blackburn's Eye Care who donated the building we operate from. WalMart provides food for us, as does Safeway and Sonny's. Safeway has a donation option at their checkout lanes that also helps provide us the ability to serve the community. Bell Pole & Lumber has been so great to us, providing a matching grant that helps us with our operating expenses throughout the year. Of course, local churches also help out with Table of Grace throughout the year, making this event now a true community effort.

Eads noted that Sandhill Global wants to construct a 13,000-square-foot building on Elm Street for Table of Grace.

Eads said, "This would be a building that the community would be proud of. When they first started working on the project, they figured it would take about 1.8 million dollars to complete, but with all of the supply chain disruptions and cost increases, they decided to switch to a steel building. But the building will be first class and something the community could be proud of.

Eads said that Sandhills Global was looking to partner with a few other companies to help shoulder the costs of the project.

"Sandhills Global has been so great to us, for example, providing the Mobile Pantry that serves the entire area. But they're looking for a few other companies to pitch in and get involved with the building project. Sandhills will fund the bulk of the project, but having a few other companies participate would be very helpful. The more people involved in these efforts, the better," Eads said.

The Thanksgiving basket event was a huge success due to the volunteers at Table of Grace and the many local people and businesses that contributed generously to the organization.
