Sidney, NE – The Sidney community continues to honor the memory of Harold Perkins, a cherished member for over 20 years, whose contributions and leadership have profoundly shaped our community. While his generous bequest to the Sidney and Greater Area Endowment Fund will support local initiatives for years to come, it is Harold's vibrant spirit, dedication, and the values he lived by that truly define his lasting legacy. His commitment to service and his unwavering support for others will inspire generations to carry forward the ideals he exemplified.
Harold was a dedicated volunteer, exemplifying outstanding leadership through his extensive involvement in both his church and the broader community. He served as an usher at St. Patrick's Church for 30 years and was a pivotal member of the St. Pat's Catholic Foundation and Finance Committee. His leadership extended to the Cheyenne County Chamber, where he served as President in 1999 and later as an Ambassador. He was a large supporter of new ideas in the community and always arrived with a smile to the grand opening ceremonies.
Harold's extensive involvement in local organizations exemplifies his dedication to donating both time and talent to the Sidney community. His service on the Planning Commission and Airport Authority demonstrated his commitment to enhancing local infrastructure and planning for the future. At the Cheyenne County Community Center and through SALT (Sidney Area Leadership Training), he shared his expertise and guidance, fostering leadership development and community engagement.
Moreover, his contributions to the WNCC Endowment Association and the Knights of Columbus reflect his passion for education and support for charitable initiatives. As a member of the Rotary Club and Sidney Elks Lodge, Harold actively participated in projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents. His involvement with Panhandle Senior Golf and Sidney Flyers highlighted his love for sports and mentorship, encouraging others to engage in healthy, community-oriented activities. Through these diverse roles, Harold not only dedicated his time but also leveraged his skills and knowledge, leaving a lasting impact on the community he cherished.
Harold Perkins' unwavering commitment to his community, his spirit of generosity, and his leadership qualities will continue to inspire those who knew him. The funds donated to the Sidney and Greater Area Endowment Fund will support essential projects, reflecting Harold's enduring impact on the community he loved. We are deeply grateful for his generosity and the legacy he has left the Sidney and Greater Area Fund.
