Candi was born on April 30, 1950, in Lewellen, NE to Clayton and Betty Lou (Bainbridge) Radtke. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School in Cheyenne WY, then St. Paul's Catholic Elementary School in Napa, ID. Her family moved to Sidney, NE where she attended junior high and high school years at St. Patrick's Catholic School, graduating with the class of 68.
She married Dennis Makey in 1971 and together they had two wonderful children, Jeff and Ashley. Candi worked at the Sidney Memorial Hospital where she loved being around the patients and the staff. She was kind and compassionate, but tough when she had to be. She also worked at Security 1st Bank where the customers loved seeing her. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching NE football, social gatherings, hanging out with friends and spending time with her family which included the holiday poker games.
Above all Candi, loved her family and lived for them. Everything she did in life was done in love. Through good times and hard times, she always kept a positive and upbeat outlook. She was always there to offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and encouragement when they needed it most. She faced each obstacle with courage and determination, knowing that her loved ones were counting on her.
Candi's presence will be deeply missed. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of all who knew her.
