SIDNEY--There’s been an influx over past few months of “Food Trucks” in Sidney, mainly occupying spaces in the Allo/Dollar General, NebraskaLand Tire, and WalMart parking lots.
The Sun-Telegraph has been contacted by local business owners concerned about these trucks and the impact they are having on local restaurants and eating establishments. According to at least one of these sources, a top city official has been asked about the food truck vendors, specifically if they are paying state and local sales taxes, and what kind of inspections and permits are required of them from the Health Department.
The Sun-Telegraph will be contacting city officials about this issue to provide specific details about permitting costs, frequency of operation, location restrictions and other issues. Sidney residents are always very supportive of local businesses, and we are determined to let the citizens know what type of permitting fees and other monies these businesses, some of which are from out of state, contribute to our local economy.
