Bull Fries! Sidney Elks Lodge Treats Community to Local Delicacy

Hot off the heels of its first ever bull fry, the Sidney Elks Lodge is happy to announce plans to continue the fundraiser as an annual event.

"We've already been asked when we'll be doing this again, so I guess it's on the books for next year," Cindy Bartling comments.

Serving up an all you can eat plate of fried Rocky Mountain oysters (or chicken strips), scalloped potatoes, beans, beer and cheddar bread with a brownie or slice of cake to top it off; the fundraiser dinner proved to be a success as well.

Over 210 pounds of Rocky Mountain oysters were delivered fresh from Ovid, Colorado. That's 15 cases of oysters weighing 14 pounds each, and another two cases of chicken strips that Sidney went nuts over. With 120 people through the door, and 20 volunteers working, the evening was a surefire hit.

The next Elks event will be the community Thanksgiving feed on Tuesday, November 26 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Orders must be placed by Monday, November 25 no later than 5:00 pm. To-go orders as well as delivery are offered.

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the Elks will host a vendor fair in honor of Small Business Saturday. A variety of goods perfect for Christmas shopping will be available that day from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

And to end the year in style, the Elks will be hosting their annual casino night in honor of New Years Eve; more information will be available at a later date.

You can visit the Sidney Elks Lodge No. 1894 at 1040 Jackson Street, you can place your order for Thanksgiving dinner by calling Heather at: (308) 249 - 4789.
