Veterans and their families start to fill up the Elks Lodge in Sidney right after the doors opened for the annual Veterans Bean Feed.
SIDNEY--Another beloved Sidney tradition took place on Veteran's Day: the annual Bean Feed at Sidney Elks Lodge #1894. The free meal drew a big group of veterans and their families who get to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal and visit with other veterans and neighbors.
Cheyenne County Veteran's Services Coordinator Fred Wiedeburg said, "This is such a great event every year, and it takes a lot of people to pull it off. I started calling and texting this morning and everybody involved got in action and came out to the Elks Lodge. I don't know the secret recipe for the ham and beans, but it is delicious. It's a free meal, but lots of people give a small donation to help defray the costs of the food. It's a great event that the Veterans look forward to every year."
