SIDNEY--On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Sun-Telegraph stopped by the Cheyenne County Fair Grounds to get an update on the set-up of the All is Bright Christmas Tour. Cheyenne County Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell was there with a few helpers, setting up the Winter Wonderland that begins November 30 and continues every weekend before December 23, 2025.
The family-friendly event is always free and features brilliant light displays, live reindeer stables, a Santa's workshop, a nativity scene, and activities for children. And once again the Sun-Telegraph is helping Santa gather information from local kiddos by sponsoring the official "Letters to Santa" station where kids can write their very own letter to Santa and have it sent straight to the North Pole. Area students in grades K-3 will receive blank letters in class to be filled out at home and dropped off at the station. All of the letters Santa receives will be published in the Sun-Telegraph on December 19, 2024.
If you have questions regarding Letters to Santa, please call 254-2818.
Opening night on November 30 will be very special as the live reindeer will appear at the All is Bright Event, courtesy of Viaero Wireless. Reindeer Games will then commence and include reindeer-themed crafts and interactive games, which are sure to be fun for the whole family.
December 6 and 7 have been declared Whoville Weekend, where everybody can step into the whimsical world of the Grinch. Come dressed as your favorite Whoville character and enjoy Grinchmas time in Whoville.
For the first time, there will be a Sensory Friendly Night on December 12 from 3 p.m. To 7 p.m. This will be a quiet, low-sensory atmosphere with soft music and no live performances. Extra accommodations will be made to ensure everybody can enjoy the magic of Christmas at their own pace.
On December 13 and 14, it's Team Red vs. Team Green. Pick a side and come out in all red or all green. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors to see which team rules the night. Whether you're team Santa Red or Grinch Green, show up to show off your holiday spirit.
Finally, December 20, 21, and 23 is Ugly Sweater Weekend. It's your opportunity to break out the tackiest and most outrageous sweaters hiding in the back of your closet. Whether it's covered in glitter, jingling with bells, or shining with lights, let everybody get an eyeful during the final All is Bright weekend. The weekend is dedicated to embracing the fun side of the holidays, so the uglier the seater, the better. There will be an Ugly Sweater Photo Booth to capture the moment for a lifetime.
