NORTH PLATTE--The Lady Raiders traveled to North Platte on Saturday, October 19, 2024, and matched up against two tough opponents, and came away winless on the day. Sidney seemed to turn their season around with a five-match winning streak in the middle of September, but since then it seems that they have alternated between wins and losses in every match down the stretch.
The Lady Raiders first faced the North Platte Lady Bulldog team, an opponent they lost to in straight sets earlier in the month. The outcome this time was not much different, with the Lady Bulldogs overpowering the Sidney girls in the first set 25-to-9, and then Sidney fighting back in the second set to make the match competitive, but ultimately falling in the second set 25-to-17 for the 2-to-0 match loss. Sophomore Rylan Misegadis had four kills in the loss, and the Lady Raiders only managed one block in the match.
Next, the Lady Raider matched up with the Holdrege Lady Dusters for the first time this season, and both sets were hard-fought. Holdrege was able to outlast Sidney in both sets, winning by scores of 25-to-21 and 25-to-23 for the 2-to-0 match victory. Junior Kierra Schrader led the offense with 9 kills and freshman Khloe Schrader had 10 assists in the loss.
Sidney's record sits at 16-and-15 on the season, and they were scheduled to host Gering on Tuesday, October 22 for their final regular-season match. A win against the Lady Bulldogs would give Sidney a winning record for the season.
