Claire Jordan Places 14th Individually
GERING--After earning runner-up honors at the District Tournament on October 7, the Lady Raiders Girls Golf team qualified for the NSAA Class B State Tournament in Gering on October 14 and 15. The girls traveled up to the challenging Monument Shadows Golf Course to go against the best golfers in Class B.
At the end of the two-day competition, the Lady Raiders earned eighth place as a team and were led individually by senior Claire Jordan, who earned a medal and 14th place overall. The Sidney team shot a total score of 784, 393 for Round one and 391 for Round two. Omaha Duchesne Academy took top honors with an overall score of 704, edging out runner-up Elkhorn North's score of 705. Norris earned third-place honors with a total score of 748.
Jordan's 14th-place finish came with a first-round score of 92 and a second-round score of 90, for a total of 182. Senior Jordan DeNovellis placed 43rd, with a first-round score of 98 and a second-round score of 101 for a total of 199. Junior Josette McConnell placed 45th with a first-round score of 100 and a second-round score of 102 for a total of 202, and senior Katie Raffleson placed 47th with a first-round score of 105 and a second-round score of 98 for a total of 203. Junior Aubrey Campbell finished up the scoring for Sidney with a 52nd-place finish, scoring 103 for the first-round and 104 for the second-round for a total score of 207.
The Lady Raiders finished strong and showed consistent improvement throughout the season, and although they will lose strong veterans to graduation, their underclass players improved their game and should step up when next Fall's golf season comes back to Sidney.
