Shirley Ann Jurgens

Shirley Ann (Bules) Jurgens, age 90, of Sidney, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Per Shirley's wishes she was cremated and no public services will be held. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Sidney, NE.

Shirley was born on March 6, 1934 to Karl J. and Katherine M. (Strasrypka) Bules and spent her life in Cheyenne County. After High School, she obtained her teaching certificate at Kearney State College and taught K-8 in the country school North of Colton. Shirley met Jerry "J.B." Jurgens at a school function and they married the next year on September 19, 1953. She worked alongside her husband on their farm and she was a member of the WIFE (Women Involved in Farm Economics) organization. They raised two children, Bradd and Jennifer and enjoyed their granddaughter, Katy Jurgens. Shirley also worked in private healthcare and at Sloan Estates for many years. Among her favorite hobbies included quilting, traveling, word/number searches and keeping busy outside at the farm. She loved her grand dog Piper Jo and always looked forward to her spending time at the farm.

Shirley is survived by her son, Bradd Jurgens of Sidney, daughter Jennifer Jurgens of

Cheyenne, WY, granddaughter Katy Jurgens of Cheyenne, WY, brother Karl J. Bules, Jr. of Chappell, sister Alice (Jim) Ford of Alliance, sister-in-law Connie Bules of Sidney and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Karl and Katherine, husband Jerry "J.B." Jurgens, sister-in-law Mildred Bules, sister and brother-in-law Donna (Ed) Murray, brother Richard Bules, brother and sister-in-law Wayne (Ginger) Bules, brother Ted Bules and nephew Michael Bules.
