Warriors Power Past Crawford, 60-42

CRAWFORD--Leyton's Warrior football team earned their second win in three tries in their inaugural season playing 6-man football, and this win was fueled by four touchdown passes by their outstanding junior quarterback Alec Watchorn. The game was a tight battle as Crawford was able to respond to Leyton's scores with touchdowns of their own, but the swarming Warrior defense, led by the 15 total tackles of junior Jeremiah Hajek, held off the Rams and secured the win for Leyton.

Watchorn completed four of five passes for 74 yards and four touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 51 yards. Sophomore Austin Beutler went 5-for-11 passing the ball for 89 yards and a touchdown. Freshman Colt Van Anne rushed 11 times for 71 yards and two touchdowns, while Hajek rushed three times for 34 yards and a touchdown and sophomore Isaac Rohde rushed twice for 47 yards and a touchdown.

The defense was impressive with five tackles for loss in the win. They also had a sack and forced seven hurried throws. Watchorn intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble while Hajek also had a fumble recovery. The Warriors gained 367 yards on offense and had nine total touchdowns, five receiving and four rushing.

The Warriors host Potter-Dix on Friday at 2 p.m., and it is the first time the rivals will square off on the gridiron since 2015. Both teams enter the contest at 2-and-1, and it should be a very competitive contest, with the athleticism of Leyton players like Watchorn and Hajek squaring off with the more experience Coyotes, with dynamic playmaker Dylan Tabor and the power running of Dawsen Monheiser.
