The Legacy of Carole King: Michelle Foster Entertains Sidney

As part of Nebraska High Plains Arts Council's 38th year in Sidney, Michelle Foster's "Welcome Home" showcase delighted patrons and ticket holders on Thursday, September 12th.

Kicking off a colorful season from the East Coast, Foster tickled the ivories while crooning classics alongside her talented cohorts. The trio brought a warm and complex tone to the stage; a more "unplugged" and intimate show, the audience was encouraged to join in for popular songs such as "It's Too Late," and "I Feel the Earth Move."

An impromptu performance of "You've Got a Friend" surprised the audience as local artist, Kelsey Arrington, was pulled from the crowd. "The arts are so important in a small town, to have this level of talent performing on a Sidney stage is a true testament to the tenacity and creativity oozing through our community," Arrington comments, "We are lucky to have the opportunity to witness big city talent right in our own backyard."

Foster's intricately fluid vocals and bright demeanor brought a special sparkle to the stage; complimented by her sequined dresses and fun Carole King trivia. A solo encore of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" completed the show with a meet and greet following.

Just the start of a sure-to-impress season, HPAC's next show will be October 1, 2024 featuring the Fantastick Patrick, a combination of comedy and circus tricks perfect for a family night out.
