City of Sidney Accepting Bids to Repair 13th Avenue Underpass

On Wednesday, August 22, 2023 a female resident of Sidney was involved in a tragic one-vehicle accident when her 2010 Ford F-150 Super Cab Pick-Up collided with the 13th Avenue bridge railing.

The vehicle had been driving westbound on Hickory Street when the driver suffered some type of medical emergency which caused her to lose consciousness and drive directly into the bridge railing at the top of the 13th Avenue underpass that heads to the North Side of Sidney.

Over the past year, city officials have consulted with structural engineers to determine the full extent of the damage as well as what would be required to fully repair and restore the bridge located at 1115 13th Avenue in Sidney.

It has been determined that the project will consist of the removal of two retaining wall panels, railing, and pavement, the construction and installation of precast concrete panels, the fabrication and installation of railing, and approximately 60 square yards of 8-inch pavement, 200 square feet of sidewalk and related work.

Sealed bids for the 13th Avenue Underpass Repair Project, will be received by Lori Borchert, City Clerk at City Hall, 1115 13th Avenue, or mailed to PO Box 79, Sidney, NE 69162 until 2:00 P.M., (Local Time) October 7, 2024 and then, at said office, publicly opened and read aloud.

All bidders must be on the M.C. Schaff and Associates plan holders list in order to be considered a responsible bidder.  Bidders will be added to the list once Contract Documents have been obtained.
