ILIFF, CO.-- The Peetz Bulldogs looked to rebound from an opening-day loss to Potter-Dix, but the Caliche Buffaloes running game was too much for the Bulldogs to handle. Caliche gained an early lead and was able to maintain their advantage and ended up with the victory, 46-to-38.
Caliche started the game with the ball, and used five straight running plays to march down the field and take a 7-to-0 lead. Caliche then recovered an onside kick to get the ball again. The Buffaloes drove the ball again and Caliche scored on a 21 yard touchdown run to move the score to 13-to-0.
The first quarter ended with Caliche up 13-to-0, but Peetz was able to convert a fourth down and 17 yard attempt and get the ball down to the one yard line. Sophomore Tanner Wood reeled in a touchdown pass and a two point conversion moved the score to 13-to-8. But Caliche fired right back returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, extending their lead to 20-to-8. It was all the buffer the Buffaloes needed, as they were able to score whenever Peetz narrowed the lead and took the victory, 46-to-38. Conner Schumacher led the offense for Peetz with 97 yards rushing on 19 carries and two touchdowns scored.
