Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
The village of Potter was bustling with activity on Saturday, August 31st as the 93rd Potter Days celebration was formally kicked off by a 5k color run and walk.
The paint run, which promotes community activity and fun, hosted over 30 athletes looking to sweat in the summer sun while enjoying a little extra color in their day.
Part of the annual tradition, the Potter parade hosted different local organizations, over 200 dirt-bikers as well as two Potter Days Queens, a tie for the first time in 22 years. Following the parade through Main Street, a craft show commenced on the green space by the bank. A collection of multiple vendors with homemade items and bouncy houses for the kids to enjoy, and a face painter was even on-site for the event.
Potter is a quaint community proud of its history, evident through not only the community attitude but also by the special trinkets you find throughout town. Crocheted posts and benches, a freshly painted Herbie Husker greeting you as you enter the town, and the preserved architecture of days long past. Home to the legendary tin roof sundae as well as a smorgasbord of other historical offerings, Potter is a well-kept community actively engaging with the surrounding areas. A glistening gem just off the interstate and the Old Lincoln Highway, look for the spray-painted pennies on the sidewalks downtown and you'll know you're right at home.
