Lodgepole Old Settlers' Days a crowd favorite for the 100th time
The Lodgepole community celebrated its one-hundredth year of celebrating its history and camaraderie from August 30 through September 2, 2024.
The celebration started at the Steer In diner on Friday, August 30, 2024, where friends and neighbors came together to celebrate this annual event.
On Saturday family-friendly events included everyone's favorite event, the car show which displayed a nice variety of the area's motorcycles, cars, and trucks. A golf tournament at the Chappell Golf Course, a friendly round of rivalry at the softball tournament and the Tractor Pull on Front Street made for a fun afternoon.
The Panther Activity Center offered event-goers a taco bar, followed by a whimsical and entertaining magic show. "Victory Underground" performed for music enthusiasts later in the evening.
On Sunday, an early morning church service at South Park was followed by a volleyball tournament, a quilt show produced by the Ladies Guild of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lodgepole, and then some afternoon bingo. The winner of the quilt raffle was Tom Nelson.
Grand Marshals Jerry and Maryann Dickinson headed up the parade on Monday. The town was represented by local businesses, Lodgepole High School cheerleaders and various classes, local veterans, and the Lodgepole Volunteer Fire Department.
Following the parade, people were treated to the annual community BBQ lunch which included sweet treats and delicious delicacies provided by Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
Everyone went home satiated and tired, but with another year's worth of memories under their belts, ready to gather again in 2025.
