Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
Dedication and patience paid off on Saturday, August 24th as Alaina Challburg of Sidney received Best in Show for her "shopping in style" outfit at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.
Alaina spent the competition portion of the fair participating in a modeling event sponsored by "Raising Nebraska," a permanent installation and interactive experience stationed at the heart of the State Fair, according to raisingnebraska.net. The event featured 120 4-H members from across the state showcasing outfits as well as giving presentations and reports of styles. Challburg, a fourth-generation 4-H participant, spent months preparing to solidify the perfect look. Scheduling a special style consult and color match with Sarah Bucholz, owner of House of Color in Sidney, helped Challburg to make her decision, and the perfect bright pink ruffled dress was chosen as the surefire winner. A pairing of white wedge sandal heels and complimentary pink sparkle jewelry accented the outfit, allowing Challburg to feel confidently beautiful during her presentation.
To Challburg's surprise and delight, she and one other 4-H contestant were chosen as Best in Show, "My favorite part of 4-H is sewing and beef, but the best part is doing it all with my cousins," Challburg commented on her family's continued 4-H legacy.
