Cabela's Hosts Youth Day Hunting Event

SIDNEY-- Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's held a family-friendly event on Saturday, August 17, at the Cabela's location in Sidney. An inflatable archery range was set up in the Cabela's store, in the back of the store past the fishing equipment. Two staff members were on hand to assist youngsters at the archery range and to give the children a free photo download of their attempts at hitting the floating targets. Kids Duck Decoys were also available for children who came to the store with their parents.

The inflatable range is unique, with four padded cone-shaped bases at the bottom of the housing that push air straight up. The air then keeps target balls suspended in mid-air while youngsters try to hit the targets with specially-made blunt-tip arrows so they won't puncture the inflatable structure. The Archery Range can be packed up and brought to other locations and events around the area.

The range was set up in the store from noon until 3 p.m. on Saturday and the kids that tried their hand at the range seemed to enjoy the challenge of hitting the floating targets. The two Cabela's staff members made sure they all used their bows and arrows properly, and they all received a free photo of themselves at the range as a gift.

The event kicks off the Fall Hunting Classic sale at Bass Pro and Cabela's, and having events geared towards children is Cabela's way of getting kids off of their smartphones and into nature.
