Kriesel Farms in Gurley Holds Annual Seed Preview

GURLEY--Kriesel Certified Seed in Gurley held its annual "Seed Preview" event on Tuesday morning, August 13. A crowd of over 60 people attended to hear the latest developments in wheat and millet seeds. On hand was Cody Creech, UNL Dryland Specialist, who gave a talk on the Wheat Streak Mosaic. Amanda Easterly a UNL Research Assistant Professor spoke on wheat variety data, and Jenna Zahller of Perry Brothers Seed out of Ovid, CO spoke about marketing millet.

Door prizes and fresh cinnamon rolls were available for the attendees, and all in attendance learned about new wheat strains and planting techniques. Jenna Zahller of Perry Brothers Seed said, "I spoke about information on millet, which is very valuable to growers because there's little information about millet advancements out there. It was a great opportunity for people to come out and learn some new things to help their businesses."

Leon Kriesel was impressed with the turnout for the event, and was happy that the attendees were able to hear speakers and gain valuable information. "Although we sell seeds and move some merchandise at this event, it's really all about the community coming out and taking advantage of the knowledge these specialists are able to share with us."

Kriesel Certified Seed is located at 4626 Rd 111, west of Gurley.
