Sidney-- As part of a way to celebrate the end of the Summer reading program with community involvement, the Sidney Public Library, with the help of the Friends of the Library, hosted a "Wrap-Up Party" in Legion Park on Saturday, July 27th. A summer day filled with a cake walk, bake sale, s'mores station, free will donation lunch, dunk tank, games, story hour and take home craft. The opportunity to pick up Summer reading program prizes while enjoying the party in the park was a hit for all who attended.
Sidney Police Department was on the scene, in a different way, contributing to the fun. Three officers put on their swimsuits and sunglasses for a chance to be dunked in the tank. "Watching the kids hootin' and hollerin' and having so much fun while giving them something to do on a hot Summer day was rewarding," Amanda Eastin, SPL Director had to say about the event in the park, "Our staff worked so hard to put on this event, and the Friends of the Library were a big help as well. We're also thankful to the Police Department for participating in all the fun."
The donations raised during the event will go towards the Bookmobile fund. In total, $422 was raised.
