Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
'I Can' exemplifies the meaning of courage and compassion.
A well-attended event, Sidney's Fox Theatre showcased the movie 'I Can' on Field 2 at Legion Park on Sunday, July 28th. Free for all to attend, the Summer flick brought in an influx of little ones and their parents for the perfect seasonal offering – a night full of wholesome fun and family values all enjoyed from the comforts of a folding chair on a warm summertime evening.
"We had a nice little group show up, I'd guess around 40 or so," Kim Phillips, co-owner of Fox Theatre had to say in regards to the crowd.
The film, "I Can", which is loosely based on the true story of Katelyn Pavey, a young woman born with one arm who goes on to become an All-American athlete, teaches the true meaning of resilience and understanding. "Overcoming all odds and carrying an 'I CAN' mentality, Katelyn rises above her disability and becomes a star high-school center fielder," quotes the film's website, http://www.icanmovie.info
Both the movie and the family-friendly outing serve as an example of the saying, "If you build it, they will come".
The Fox Theatre will have one more opportunity for its Summer matinee which will feature, "Kung Fu Panda 4". The showing will be on August 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Fox Theatre's primary location, 1120 Illinois Street in Downtown Sidney.
