BRIDGEPORT--Sidney's Stingray Swim Team is cutting through the water full steam ahead so far this season, with their own home meet behind them and now traveling to other towns and looking to bring home medals for their efforts. The team traveled up to Bridgeport over the past weekend and brought along 46 swimmers to compete at the meet.
It was hot and relatively cloud-free on Saturday in Bridgeport, which is perfect weather for swimming. The races started early and lasted into the afternoon, with great performances recorded up and down the Stingray lineup.
Each swimmer was allowed to swim in three events, plus two relays in their age group. If a swimmer chose to swim a distance in their age group, they were allowed to swim in four individual events plus the relays. During the Bridgeport meet, the 46 swimmers achieved 98 personal best times. The majority of swimmers were able to record best times in two or more events. The total team time drop for this week's competition was 1,249.42 seconds, a great improvement over the last meet.
