As the United States of America celebrates a Declaration of Independence written by the Finger of God 248 years ago, we are assured that Heaven is watching! God's pattern is simple, the same and timely, never changing!
God's first watch for the U.S.A. was to declare independence from a depraved and lustful, lawless Great Britain. Colonies ended and a new nation began with new laws and even new spelling of words, considered "American" English.
Our 2nd watch began after a Civil War. Slavery ended. Native Peoples were targeted. George Armstrong Custer and his troops died at Little Bighorn, June 25, 1876. News arrived in Washington D. C. amidst the 100th celebration of July 4th.
A 3rd watch began after World War II. As the world's most powerful nation, a G.I. bill helped educate our young Vets. The Baby Boom began, suburbs grew up. The face of our nation morphed into one of fatness and spiritual apathy.
We are in the 4th Watch! Consider Matthew 14. John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin and harbinger, has been beheaded. All the world watched! What would Jesus do? He fed 5,000, healed multitudes, ordered Disciples across Lake Galilee while He sent people home, lest they faint on the way. Acts 10:38
Peter may have been facetious asking Jesus to let him walk on water during a major storm. (The Apostle Paul notes stepping out, in fear and trembling, is a big risk!) Remember, 3rd watch is communing with Father. Where do we spread on, thrust in or deliberately hurl the Word of God? Jesus simply said, "Come".
No election can solve our current dilemma! Our children and children's children need a 4th watch call to walk on the water of the Word: truth, justice and the Constitution of the United States. Only an awakening to God, the reality of redemption, combined with Law and Order can set this nation back on her Founding and create a glorious, triumphant Body of Christ (Messiah).
Walk us home, Lord Jesus! Help us embrace our Founding Fathers and the U.S. Constitution written by men of prayer who wrote as God spoke. Bless us with Presidents, members of Congress, Governors and Statesmen who will carry out these watches. Awaken the Church, once again, to protect marriage as defined by God, designed to shelter and nurture their children as Matthew 18 directs.
Seal us, Lord, with Your Holy Spirit. Empower us to walk, placidly amid the noise and haste on today's sea of boisterous words currently pulling our nation into oblivion. Father, bring Your people united into belief in Him and Him alone! Give us ears to hear and strength to act, Lord!! "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty, through God, for the pulling down of evil strongholds," 2 Corinthians 10:4
