Virginia L. Mahr, 96, of Sidney, NE passed away at her home on Monday, June 17, 2024. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, South Divide with Pastor Neil Carlson officiating. Burial followed at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are designated to Trinity Lutheran Church, South Divide.

Virginia L. Mahr was born on July 16, 1927 at her home near Helvey, Nebraska to Christian and Emma (Schilke) Milius. She was the third child having older brothers Orval and Daryl and younger sister Carol. She attended country school near Helvey until the family moved to Omaha. Virginia graduated from Omaha Tech High School. Upon graduation, she worked at Harry's Electric.
She met her future husband, Albert, at a Farmers' Union Convention in Omaha. They were married on May 1, 1949 and lived on the family farm southwest of Sidney. She enjoyed living and working on the farm and continued to live there after Albert's death in 1985.
To this union four daughters and one son were born. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, brothers Orville and Daryl, sister Carol, sisters-in law Louise and Jeanice and brother-in-law Jerry.
Survivors are her children Mary and Loren Koch of Gothenburg, Steve and Donna Mahr of Sidney, Kate and Steve Morgan of Ogallala, Chris and Charles Baluska of Kimball and Brenda and Glenn Johnson of Sidney. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
