JULESBERG, CO. -- Starting on July 8th, Biblical Civics sessions will be held at The Joy Mission, in Julesburg, CO, to educate voters on constitutional foundations and the role of Christianity from our nation's founding through the present day.
Coordinated by Ivy Joy Johnson, longtime pastor, Christian community leader and author, the events will take place every Monday at 6:30 p.m. starting July 8 and ending on November 4 at the Joy Mission. Located at 401 West 3rd Street in Julesburg, Johnson's long-running column, “The Joy Mission”, appears weekly on the Sun-Telegraph's opinion pages.
The sessions are coordinated with Rick Green, founder of Patriot Academy and referred to as “America's Constitution Coach”. He is a dynamic speaker who offers biblical-based educational messages to help believers choose and support political candidates. Ivy Joy Johnson says that the upcoming election in November is critical, and educated bible-believing voters are the most powerful that can “Pierce the present darkness” in these challenging times.
Johnson says the sessions will cover the founding of our country, the Christian beliefs of the founders, and how biblical principles supported the Constitution and laws from the federal down to the local level. The session will enable attendees to better evaluate candidates, and instruct on how to best support the candidates of their choice. The historical information will show what many public schools over the past few generations have hidden from the American public practically all of the Founding Fathers were devout Christians and their faith was intertwined with the principles of the Constitution and the laws of our Republic. Constitutional scholar David Barton has been instrumental in developing the content of these sessions, and his extensive research into the founding of our Republic and the amazing people who sacrificed so much to build this nation is compelling and dispels many myths. A persistent myth was that many of the Founding Fathers were not very religious and that Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and a few others were “Deists”, and not devout Christians. Although there were differences in religious fervor between many of these individuals, the narrative that many key founders were not devout Christians is not supported by the writings or accounts of the time. Franklin was instrumental in the adoption of prayer to open the Congress, which started with the first Constitutional Convention of 1787.
These sessions will help attendees understand the proper implementation of their faith in politics, and how to best measure a candidate that aligns with the individual voter's views. For too long, many voters, especially Christian Conservatives, have been disappointed by officials they have supported when it was time to stand up for their convictions and faith. These sessions are designed to better educate the public on the Constitution, its basis in Judeo-Christian philosophy and heritage, and are designed to help select and promote candidates who best represent the values of the voters.
These sessions are free of charge and all members of the public are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Ivy Joy or Frank Johnson at 970-474-2622.
