Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
"Having been justified by faith (believing that He is), we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Messiah (Christ), by Whom we received the Spirit of adoption and now cry out, "Abba, Father'. Romans 5:1; 8:15.
No doubt about it, Dads are special people! The word "Abba" is translated "Daddy". Some think this is an irreverent name for God, but He loves it! It is a belonging term. His is ours and we are His! He rejoices when we imitate Him.
O! Mein Pa-Pa lyrics were written by Swiss composer Paul Burkhard in 1939 for a German production, The Black Pike. Recorded by Eddie Fischer, it topped the U.S. and British charts in the early 1950s. Does this not speak to us of Abba, Father?
"Oh, my Pa-Pa, to me he is so wonderful!
Oh, my Pa-Pa, to me he is so good!
No one could be so gentle and so lovable.
Oh, my Pa-Pa, he always understood."
Abba always understands our constant situation: evil revolting against good. Imagine His position as the Creator of Man when Adam betrayed Him. His righteousness could not reach down and hug Adam, for Adam would die instantly. Sin does not live where righteousness abounds. The Bible tells us how Abba's love sought a way to save Mankind and defeat the works of the devil.
The Scriptures are filled with the 'daring do' of righteous men and women. Noah was found, by Abba, at a time when the earth was filled with chaos, greed, depravity and bloodshed. So, Abba showed him how to build an ark and live in it with all the animals of the earth for just over a year. This was amazing Grace!
Some of us might remember a time when we thought the world had come to an end because we developed a huge pimple on our noses, Prom night. We may have found Mom's make-up and dabbed it around, but it helped little. Finally at Prom, joy of the event and wonder at who arrived with whom, just wiped care from our minds! This, alone, gives a vivid picture of going, boldly, into Abba's Throne room for all the grace we need when we need it! Hebrews 4:16
True, it takes some fathers awhile to acknowledge, or even say aloud, that their child is special. My Dad was that way, but when Mother brought my younger siblings 60 miles through snow from the hospital, Dad would cradle them in his arms and sing to them. I learned the lyrics to "Yes Sir! That's My Baby!", "Daddy's Little Fatty" or "Brand New Beautiful Doll!"
It was my daddy who bent me over his knee and slapped my bottom when I failed to apply for a scholarship. He then, filled out the papers, himself. I won the largest scholarship ever offered by my High School: a free ride at Colorado State University!
"Abba knows you have need of things, so seek, first, His Kingdom! Every needed thing will be added to you! Do not fear, Little Flock, for it is Abba's good pleasure to give you all of it!" Luke 12:31-32
