Harold F. Powers

Harold F. Powers, age 86 of Sidney, NE passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Saturday, June 8, 2024 from 1-4:00 P.M. with family present 2-4:00 P.M. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Harold's care and funeral arrangements. Memorials have been established to Morrill Ambulance Services, and the First Responders. 

Harold was born on July 18, 1937 in Harrison County, IA to Thomas & Louise Powers. 

He graduated from Logan High School in 1955 and volunteered for the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany from 1956-1957 where he served with the 606 Ordinance CO. 

On May 2, 1959 he married Colleen Dorsey at the First Christian Church in Griswold, IA. This past May they celebrated 65 years of marriage. To this union two children were born Tom and Rhonda. 

They moved to Sidney in 1972 where Harold owned and operated Western Auto until 1981, later being a hardware salesman until retirement. 

He is survived by his wife Colleen, son Tom and wife Roxanne, daughter Rhonda and husband Dale Meick, grandchildren, Shawna and Josh Rowley, Brandon and Sara George, Rachel and Tanner Lewis, Amanda Powers, and Andy Bokelman, great grandchildren, Danika, Morgan, Taylor Rowley, Avery and Charley Lewis, Blair Bokelman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
