Leyton's Kruse Named MAC MVP
MULLEN--It was the last hurrah for many of these graduated seniors as they had an opportunity to lace up their sneakers and represent their schools on the hardwood one last time on Saturday. All-Stars from the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference faced off against the All-Stars of the Minuteman Activities Conference in Mullen for two exciting games of basketball action. In the end, the MNAC All-Stars on both the boys and girls teams were able to best the All-Stars from the MAC Conference.
The MAC Conference were represented by local players that were selected for their outstanding seasons. For the girls, the roster included Ella Whiting and Anna Speirs of Creek Valley, Trinity Beutler and Claire Watchorn of Leyton, and Madison Williamson of Potter-Dix. For the boys, the MAC roster included Trenton Rushman and Jonathan Kruse of Leyton, and Brayden Kasten and Caden McConnell of Potter-Dix.
In the girls game, the scoring was close in the beginning of the game until the MNAC All-Stars pulled away in the second quarter and cruised to secure the victory with a final score of 57-to-32. Sandhills/Thedford's Dayle Haake led the MNAC team with 14 points and was selected MVP of the MNAC team. Lexi Fiscus of Bayard was named MVP of the MAC team with 10 points in the loss.
In the boys game, it was the MNAC again pulling away in the first half and building a big halftime lead. They continued to score through the second half, and took the victory by a final of 74-to-42. Leyton's Jonathan Kruse was selected as MVP for the MAC team, leading the team with 9 points in the loss.
