"Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, you, who seek the Lord. Look to the Rock from which you were hewn, look to Abraham and Sarah." Isaiah 51:1,2
One little boy asked his father, "Where did I come from?" The father, not wanting to get into a 'birds and bees' talk with his young son, answered, "Go ask your mother." When the 5-year-old approached his mother, she asked, "Why do you ask?" He replied, "Abigail is from Boston, and I've never been there!"
Each of us have asked, "How did I get here and where do I go from here?" It's a valid question. Even Abraham questioned. God said, "Will you come to Canaan land?" Abram said, "Yes", packed up his wife, nephew Lot, all his belongings and set out. When he arrived, there was a famine in the land. If God was gonna provide, what did this mean? Abram journeyed on to Egypt to find out. He discovered that running ahead of God has adverse consequences.
We all do it. Psalm 78: "He commanded our fathers that they should make known to their children His commandments, precepts and statutes, that the generations to come might know them and set their hope in God. [They forgot]"
Abram and Sarai faithfully sought God's righteousness. During their trek of learning and growing, they never broke the covenant established in Genesis 12-15. Their names changed for obedience, Hebrews 11. Remember that Covenant made by God with a Man named Jesus, His Son? Abraham and Sarah honored it first. God had to, also. Today, it can be denied but can never be broken.
"Then those who feared (honored in reverential awe) the Lord spoke often together and the Lord heard. So, a book of remembrance was written before Him, for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His Name. 'They shall be Mine,' says the Lord of Hosts, 'and I will make them My jewels and spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.'" Malachi 3:16, 17
Abram, cum Abraham, separated from Lot because strife came between them, Genesis 13. The Lord told him to lift up his eyes and walk the land. Anywhere Abram set his foot would, forever, belong to his descendants, the Children of Israel. Think of it, wherever you set your foot, God has a plan for you. Within you is the Presence of Holy Spirit. John 16:13. He leads, guides and tells you things to come by the logos (written) Word and what He speaks (rhema) to your spirit. LISTEN!
Christians, we know where we're from and where we're going. Our covenant is sure! Focus on His Plan for your life, go and do! There's a place for you and a service for you to perform, now, in this time! Remember: who He appoints, He anoints! "Get wisdom (from Holy Spirit)! To honor the Lord brings knowledge. Wisdom is the principle thing, and with all your getting get understanding! When you walk you will not be hindered, when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold on instruction, and do not let go . Keep wisdom for she is [a pathway for] your life." Proverbs 7:5-17.
