Sidney third-graders went on their annual tour of the City of Sidney offices and departments, and the beautiful morning weather was perfect for the outdoor lessons and demonstrations offered by the various city departments.
Police, Fire and Water department personnel had their best equipment out, and the kids were thrilled watching how the booms on various trucks functioned, and they learned about the training a firefighter goes through, and how the sewer system works.
City Manager David Scott was on hand to greet and guide the kids through the day. "What a great day for this. The kids are in a great mood and eager to learn about what we do here at the City of Sidney. It's better than last year when the kids boo'd me," he laughed.
Department heads from police, fire, water, electric and other departments all gave the kids an instructional tour of their offices and exactly what they do. It's always a great way to end the school year, and the kids now have a better understanding of what's happening when they see City personnel working around town.
