Robert J. Teague

Robert J. Teague, age 88 of Lodgepole, NE passed away at SRMC Extended Care on Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Military graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Lodgepole, NE with PMA Wayne Fraass officiating. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Tuesday from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Robert's book.

Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Robert's care and funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Lodgepole Depot Museum. 

Robert James Teague, the son of Joseph and Grace (Rubado)Teague, was born September 23, 1935, in Lodgepole, NE.  He graduated from Lodgepole High School, class of 1953.  After graduation he worked in the oil fields.  In 1957 he joined the United States Army.  He served 2 years in Germany, came back, and married Betty Langley, whom he had met at a diner while working in the oil fields.  They then moved to Killeen, TX for a year while the army was building his unit to then be sent to Germany.  They were transferred to Idar-Oberstein, Germany.  There they had 2 daughters born in Frankfurt Military Hospital.  Toni Marie, 1959, and Tami Jean, 1960.  Upon returning to the United States, December 1962, he was honorably discharged in January of 1963 and came to Sidney, NE.   He lived and worked at the Sioux Army Depot where he was a Facilities Engineer.  While living in Sidney he had 2 sons, Robert James Jr, born in Chappell, NE and Scott Thomas, born in Sidney, NE.  In 1965, when the depot was closing, Robert moved his family of 6 to El Paso, TX where he accepted a civil service job at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.  He lived in El Paso for 31 years raising his family and retiring from White Sands MR before moving back to his hometown of Lodgepole. 

He worked several summers at Crossroads Cooperative helping with wheat, millet and corn harvest, he did a stint at Cabela's warehouses, and worked maintenance odd jobs at Lodgepole School.  He volunteered at the Lodgepole and Chappell Food Pantry and supported any school or local organization that knocked at his front door. 

He enjoyed attending his kids, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's school activities, as well as prairie dog hunting with all of them.  He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and Husker Volleyball and Football.  He was an avid collector of many things and enjoyed going to auctions.  He was always ready to tease the ones who could take it and the ones who couldn't! 

Robert is survived by his children, Toni & husband Jon Bruns, Tami & husband Randy Bevis, Scott & wife Barbara Teague, grandchildren, Amy Wilson, Erin Wyrick, Brian Wyrick, Robert Millsaps, Marshal Millsaps, Garrett Bevis, Scott Teague, Jr, Heather Maruna, Robert Teague III, and Kelsie Dunaway, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Susan Krois and Linda Miller, brother Richard Teague, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Robert was preceded in death, by his loving wife of 42 years Betty, son Robert Teague, Jr, grandsons Joseph Teague and Ryan Teague, granddaughter Heather Teague and his very special friend and companion of 17 years, Lyn Wilds, his parents Joe and Grace Teague, 2 sisters, Mary Jo From and Jeanne Jurgens.
