Local arson case gets updates, and school dance incident raises concerns.
SIDNEY--Two minor drivers started their driving careers off on the wrong foot when they collided with each other on Wednesday afternoon, May 1, at 20th Avenue and Dodge Street on the North Side of Sidney.
Both drivers will remain unidentified due to their age, but both were licensed to drive. One of the drivers was cited for Failure to Yield. He also did not have his Provisional License on his person, as required by law. There were no significant injuries and although medical responders were on the scene, both drivers refused medical attention.
On April 14, a house fire that has been determined to be arson occurred on 6th Avenue in Sidney in the early morning hours. It was incorrectly reported that Tessa Kraus was arrested shortly after the fire started that night. That information was incorrect as Kraus had fled the scene, and an Arrest Affidavit was filed against her. Kraus was arrested on April 16 in Greeley, CO, by local police. She was transferred to the Morgan County Jail, and the Cheyenne County Sheriff's Department has placed a hold on Kraus. As more information becomes available, we will keep you updated on this case.
Finally, there was an incident at West Elementary School over the past weekend. At a school-sanctioned dance, there was a report of inappropriate touching made by one of the students. Sidney Police and School officials are investigating the incident and no further information is currently available.
