Storm, Warriors and Coyotes Compete at MAC Meet

CHAPPELL--Creek Valley hosted the 2024 MAC Track & Field Meet on Monday, April 29, and for the High School boy's teams, Potter-Dix had the best finish and for the girls, Leyton was the best finisher. The Coyote boys placed fourth out of eight teams with 55 points, while Leyton came in fifth with 31 points and Creek Valley finished seventh with 4 points. For the girls, Leyton earned second place with 98 points, while Creek Valley came in fifth with 37.5 points and Potter-Dix finished seventh with 23 points. Top honors for the boys went to Garden County with 154 points, and the girls' winner was Bayard with 168 points.

For the boys, Potter-Dix scored points in the 100 Meters with senior Brayden Kasten finishing in fifth place and in third place in the 200 Meters. Sophomore Landon Gasseling placed sixth in the 200 Meters. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Gasseling, junior Dawsen Monheiser, senior Jaxen Buettenback and Kasten placed fourth, and the 4x800 Meter Relay team of sophomores Kolby Labeau, Kyle Lenstrom and Robert Ramsey with junior Dawsen Monheiser placed third.

Monheiser also took second in the Shot Put while Gasseling took the gold in High Jump, clearing 5' 7". Lenstrom placed third in Pole Vault and sophomore Dylan Tabor placed fourth in Long Jump. Gasseling scored again with a second place finish in Triple Jump. For Leyton, sophomore Jeremiah Hajek placed sixth in the 100 Meters, senior Jaxson Benish placed sixth in the 1600 Meters and senior Kaleb Borges took second in the 110 Meter Hurdles and won gold in the 300 Meter Hurdles. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Hajek, senior Jonathan Kruse, freshman Austin Beutler and Borges placed fifth. Freshman Luke Fletcher placed fourth in High Jump, Hajek and Beutler placed fifth and sixth in Long Jump, and Borges finished third in Triple Jump. Creek Valley's only score was a fourth place finish in High Jump by freshman Luke Fletcher.

For the girls teams, Leyton scored with senior Claire Watchorn placing fifth in the 100 Meters, junior Shawnee Gamble and sophomore Macey Roelle placing first and third in the 200 Meters, junior Zaili Benish and sophomore Faith Lee placing first and fifth in the 400 Meters, Lee with a fourth place finish in the 400 Meters, and junior Riley Jones with a second place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Benish and Jones placed first and second in the 300 Meter Hurdles and the 4x100 Meter Relay team of Jones, Watchorn, Gamble and Benish placed second. The 4x400 Meter Relay team of Roelle, Gamble, Watchorn and Benish took first place. Watchorn placed second in Discus and senior Amanda Montelongo-Jones placed sixth. Jones took first in High Jump and Roelle placed sixth in Triple Jump to round out Leyton's scoring. For Potter-Dix, sophomore Cayli Spencer placed fifth in the 3200 Meters, freshman Skyler LaBeau placed fifth in the 100 Meter Hurdles and sixth in the 300 Meter Hurdles, the 4x100 Meter Relay team of freshman Scarlette Taylor, sophomore Kenzie Shoemaker, sophomore Cayli Spencer and freshman Skyler LaBeau placed fourth. Shoemaker placed third in Shot Put and fifth in Discus, and senior Jacina Wilbur placed fourth in Shot Put. LaBeau placed fifth in Long Jump to round out the Potter-Dix scoring. For Creek Valley, senior Anna Speirs placed third in the 400 Meters, and senior Samantha Marin continued her strong season with a win in the 800 Meters. Spiers also took gold in the 1600 Meters while Marin took another gold with a win in the 3200 Meters. Junior Karysn Burgman placed fifth in High Jump to round out the scoring.
