SCOTTSBLUFF--Sidney's Red Raider Golf Team traveled on Monday, April 22, to compete at the Scottsbluff Invitational at Scottsbluff Country Club. The Red Raider varsity squad competed against the best teams in the area, and at the end of the day finished with a team score of +83, just missing out on a three way tie for 11th Place with Kimball and Ogallala. The Junior Varsity team also competed, and they finished the day with a +139, earning sixth place out of field of seven teams.
For the varsity squad, Cole Hanley had the best round of the day, scoring an 87 (+15), tying him for 32nd place in the field. John Meza finished his day with a round of 91 (+19), earning him a tie for 42nd place, followed by Logan Johnson who finished with a 93 (+21, good enough for 50th place. Anderson Smelley and Tyler Jensen rounded out the Sidney scoring with a 100 (+28) and 101 (+29), earning Smelley 61st place and Jensen a tie for 62nd place.
In the junior varsity division, Cooper Jobman lead the way for Sidney, placing 17th with a round of 100 (+28), followed by Shane Lilly in 18th place with a round of 102 (+30). Jaxon Biesecker finished in 23rd place with a round of 108 (+36) and Coy Rosenbaum ended his day in 25th place with a round of 117 (+45).
The golfers have the Creek Valley Invite, the Gering Invite and the Kimball Invite in successive days, so they will be very busy going into May and getting ready for District Tournament play.
