SIDNEY – Rebecca Noble’s Cabaret Theatre returns to the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 3rd, with their new show, Songbirds, a celebration of the women who changed the face of music in the 60s and 70s. From Carol King’s “So Far Away” and “Natural Woman” to Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen,” Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better,” Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five” and the Carpenter’s “For All We Know,” these ‘songbirds’ gave us musical moments that have endured for decades. The show will also include hits by Dionne Warwick and Gladys Knight as well as a salute to James Bond movie themes.
Songbirds features the talents of Omaha-based performers Camille Metoyer Moten and Rebecca Noble. Both are accomplished, award-winning singers who have toured nationally and internationally and are known for their ability to connect with audiences. Metoyer Moten has been inducted into the Nebraska Musicians Hall of Fame and Noble is the founder and producer of Cabaret Theatre, now in its thirty-fifth season. Camille is also the current board president of the Omaha Community Playhouse (the nation’s largest community theatre), and Rebecca is the Executive Director. In Sidney, they will be accompanied by pianist Ginny May, who has served as music director and has played for productions and soloists throughout the country.
Rebecca Noble’s Cabaret Theatre last appeared in Sidney on August 24, 2019. This new show, Songbirds, will close the High Plains Arts Council’s 2023-2024 season. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, $5 for students (including WNCC), and children under 5 are free. Tickets and HPAC season memberships for 2024-2025 will be available at the door.
