Oh, The Places You Will Go: Library Celebrates Dr. Seuss' 120th Birthday

The annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Party, put on by the Friends of the Library, was held March 7 at the Sidney Public Library. The event, which has been a Sidney Library tradition for over a decade, features a variety of fun creative tactile games and activities and a photo booth inspired by classic Seussical tales, all provided by volunteers of FOTSPL.

A non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the impact and awareness of our own library, FOTSPL holds events catered specifically towards connecting the community. "By supporting their communities' growth and change, libraries also help us to remain educated and vibrant," according to their website sidneypubliclibrary.org.

The Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash was a great success. Despite the snowy weather, 50 local children and their families attended the event. Truffula trees from The Lorax, Put Me in the Zoo pom pom masks, a faux fishing pond, and zany nonsensical decorated cupcakes kept all in attendance engaged in the fun activities of the day.

Anyone is welcome to join Friends of the Sidney Public Library. If interested in becoming a member or business sponsor, you may visit their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/friendsofspl by calling the Library directly at 308-254-3110, or by visiting them at 1112 Twelfth Avenue.
