Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
March 17-23 2024, marks National Ag Week, an event dedicated to increasing public awareness of agriculture's vital role in society. The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) wants you to spread the word about this important event by becoming an Ag Influencer. Here's how to do it.
How it works
The program is designed for college students or interns who are looking for experience in communication and community-building. The ACA has created an Ag Influencer toolbox with digital resources, ideas and tips for encouraging your friends and followers to show their appreciation for the country's farmers and farm families.
Be professional
When representing Ag Day on social media, it's important to be both professional and prepared to support the credibility
of Ag Day celebrations. Being professional means:
• Using appropriate language
• Dressing properly for events
• Having fun, but taking your role seriously
• Being reliable and doing what you say you'll do
Host an event
Besides social media posts, you can also organize a community event to celebrate Ag Day and share the story of agriculture. Events can include:
• Heading an Ag Day breakfast
• Setting up a farmer's market
• Organizing a field trip to a local farm
• Throwing a pizza party on a farm or in a classroom
• Hosting a farm fair to showcase new uses for ag and ag technology
To become an Ag Day Influencer, visit agday.org and register. Then, you can start posting stories, photos and videos to your social media accounts and let your community know about National Ag Day.
