SIDNEY--A Soup Fundraiser will be held on February 16 at 4 p.m. at the Cheyenne County Community Center Congregate Room to help cover costs to bury the remains of Adan (Adam) Romero Jr., who passed away after illness recently. Romero's remains will be transported to San Antonio, Texas and be interred next to his mother. On February 20, a service will be held in San Antonio.
Romero's daughter Judy has organized the fundraiser, which will feature 8-10 different
varieties of soup and desserts and a Silent Auction. Romero was on dialysis for the last few months of his life, and many local companies, including Pennington Seed, where he had worked, plus Dude's Steakhouse, Western Drug and Pedalers Corner, among others, have donated food and items for the event.
Romero was a Texas native, but spent nearly 30 years here in Sidney. The Romero family hopes all of Adam's friends and associates can make it to the fundraiser to remember Adam, and help defray the costs for the service in San Antonio later this month.
