Ruthie Lou Baker, age 85, passed away in Walsenburg, CO on December 15, 2024. Ruthie was born January 18, 1938 in Boone County, NE to Nova and Elta (Morris) Tarpenning. She attended Sidney Public Schools.
She was married to Dwight Armstrong and they had one son, Dwight Barry Armstrong. They later divorced.
She married Bernie Baker on December 18, 1966. They had one daughter, Brenda Lou. Bernie preceded her in death on September 20, 2020.
Ruthie was a police dispatcher at the Arizona State capital in Phoenix for 25 years. After retirement she moved to Bullhead City, AZ until just recently when she moved to Walsenburg, CO with her daughter because of poor health.
She is survived by her son, Barry Armstrong of Bullhead City, AZ and her daughter, Brenda Voiles of Walsenburg, CO. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Shawn Armstrong, Matthew Salkeld, and Rachel Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Willam Cruise and LaVern Tarpenning, and her two sisters Betty Clark and Donna Sharp.
Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
