POTTER--Potter-Dix's Lady Coyote Volleyball team has been struggling against the better teams they face while beating the lesser teams, and gaining experience the whole time with their young squad. The past week was challenging for the Lady Coyotes, with a triangular on Tuesday, September 19, tournament play on Saturday, September 23, and an away match against Banner County sandwiched in between.
The Lady Coyotes traveled to Wallace last Tuesday, and matched up with the host Lady Wildcats and Wauneta-Palisade. Their first match against Wallace did not go well, and the powerhouse Lady Wildcats had no trouble dispatching Potter-Dix in straight sets, 25-to-16 and 25-to-20. Next up was Wauneta-Palisade, and although the Lady Broncos have struggled for wins this season, they looked sharp against the Lady Coyotes, taking a 25-to-15, 25-to-19 straight set victory,
On Friday, the Lady Coyotes traveled to Harrisburg for a match with winless Banner county, and played very well, taking a straight set victory 25-to-5, 25-to-11 and 25-to-16. The Lady Coyotes are getting better as they gain experience, and they are putting down lesser teams and tallying victories, which is the key to growth for a young team. Although they have struggled against more seasoned opponents, the experience they are gaining now should help them by the time Subdistrict play arrives, and give the Lady Coyotes a fighting chance to make some noise in the post-season tournament.
The Lady Coyotes are at 9-and-8 on the year, and were scheduled for a triangular on Tuesday at Bayard with the Lady Tigers and South Platte.
