SIDNEY-- One of the two people alleged to have robbed Winners in Sidney on January 2, 2023 has a trial date set in Cheyenne County District Court. A Pre-Trial Hearing has been set for January 9, 2024 at 1 p.m., and if a plea agreement has not been reached, a Jury Trial will be held on January 22 and 23, 2024 at 8:30 a.m. Doetker has been charged with two counts of aiding and abetting, a class III felony, and additionally first degree criminal trespass, a class I misdemeanor and criminal mischief of $0-$500, a class III misdemeanor.
Also arrested was Matthew Cole, ex-husband of Doetker. Doetker was being held in jail on unrelated charges in Eastern Nebraska. Cole was charged with Burglary, a class IIA felony, theft of more than $5,000, a class IIA felony, first degree criminal trespass, a class I misdemeanor and criminal mischief, a class III misdemeanor.
The Sun-Telegraph reached out to the Sidney Police Department for an update on Cole's status. Cole was originally to be extradited from Eastern Nebraska to Cheyenne County after the facility that was holding Cole finished processing him through their system. Sidney Police Chief Joe Aiken claims there is no new information about when Cole will be extradited to face his charges nor has any new information on his status been given.
Doetker briefly worked at Winners before the robbery occurred, and Cole has numerous other charges from unrelated crimes. At the time, it was believed the robbery may have been connected to numerous other robberies in skill game establishments in Eastern and Central Nebraska, but it has been established that there was no connection between the Sidney robbery and others.
