Kasten Has Another Outstanding Game
HAY SPRINGS--Potter-Dix's Coyote Football team started their season with two easy wins, and finally had a competitive game in September as they traveled to match up against the Hay Springs Hawks on Thursday, September 7. In fact, the Hawks were able to take an early lead in the first quarter only to have the Coyotes turn on the jets in the second quarter, scoring 27 points while blanking the Hawks in the period to take a 31-to-16 lead at the halftime break.
Another 15 points in the second half against just 8 for Hay Springs ended the game in a 46-to-22 victory for Potter-Dix, improving their record to 3-and-0. Senior quarterback Brayden Kasten had another great game, rushing 17 times for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns while going 8-for-14 through the air for 129 yards and two more touchdowns. He was also a standout on defense, with a pair of interceptions, one run back for a touchdown, and 9 tackles on the day. Sophomore Landon Gasseling and junior Dawsen Monheiser each had a touchdown catch in the victory. Junior Logan Hottell had 13 total tackles and 3 tackles for loss in the game.
The Coyotes travel again on Friday, this time to Harrisburg to take on the winless Banner County Wildcats. Banner county is coming off a loss to Minatare, a team the Coyotes beat 73-to-0 in the first game of the season, so this match up looks to be an easy victory for the Coyotes.
