Leyton's Lady Warrior Volleyball team had an unexpected trip Monday, coming down from Dalton to practice at the Cheyenne County Community Center. The gym floor at Leyton High School was refinished and not quite ready for use, so Leyton Volleyball Head Coach Natasha Haupt had her girls come down to Sidney for their scheduled morning practice.
The Lady Warriors finished last season with a 20-and-13 overall record and a Subdistrict Title, but fell short in the D2-2 District Final to the Overton Lady Eagles. This year, Haupt is relying on the positive experience her team had last year combined with the close, family-like energy from the team.
"The girls are very close and its like a family on this team. That's a critical factor for a volleyball team, where the players have to perform as a unit to be successful. Our closeness has been and will continue to be a big factor in our success."
The Lady Warriors will start their season with tournament action up in Chadron, then will host a triangular with Minatare and Potter Dix.
