Possible purchase of real estate from WTA Land, LLC to be discussed
Barbara Perez, Editor, Sidney Sun-Telegraph
SIDNEY - Since there is a TIF (Tax Increment Financing) agreement on the city-owned building located at 812 Illinois Street that was previously owned by Cabela’s, and because UST has ended their lease on the building, the city needs to either lease or sell the building to another tax paying entity.
The city does not pay property tax on its buildings, and it is the property tax that pays the TIF bond payments. Worldwide Trophy Adventures (WTA) approached the city about this situation and started working with the city to purchase the building so it can be used to house WTA and other local businesses.
A notice of Public Hearing was published in last week’s paper and is reprinted below. The public is urged to attend so that questions may be answered and any mis-information about the transaction can be laid to rest.
The meeting will be held August 8, at 5pm in the Sidney High School Auditorium. The public is strongly encouraged to attend.
