Things were bad in Babylon. The king had been dreaming, but had no idea what he dreamt, except that it frightened him. The Chaldean soothsayers were no help. The king grew furious and ordered the death of all the 'wise' men. Daniel asked the King's Captain why this was so urgent. Daniel asked for a stay of execution, headed for home, conferred with his Hebrew companions and "the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision." Daniel 2
Perspective is a valuable game changer. Like louvered blinds, the wider they are opened the more one can see. Looking down from an airplane gives perspective that cannot be gained while lying on the grass gazing at clouds. For every problem, there is a solution. Thanks be to Jesus, who died on the Cross, rose again, and sent the Holy Spirit to live within us, perspective allows us, as it did Daniel, to see the problem clearly, then define a solution. Daniel became second in command.
I am extremely fortunate. I was born in a free country; born to pioneers in a ranching family. The first daughter of six siblings, I was given responsibility early. This prepared me to respond to problems with an overcoming attitude. I was born capable, intelligent and loveable: Find a way. Get 'er done.
Psychology teaches us what is right and what is wrong. Intellect teaches us what to do and how to do it. Emotions develop coping devices. Together, they add up to one's social standing. When the spirit is born again, perspective has new vistas! 'Inside Information' from God begins to flow from a well in us that we can't even see!
What we learn early, we learn deep: Men and women are different; who to respect, who not to respect, how to please our teachers (parents, grandparents, certain leaders). We speak, and act out, by example. We dare not cope by crying, complaining, sitting in self-pity or blaming the other guy. Rather: Smile, tell the truth. Keep your word. Set aside legal COWS; coulda, oughta, woulda, and shoulda. Survey options! Make wise choices based 'gut instinct' (God given, inner perspective) and evidences offered.
Father God may not agree with the solution we choose because His perspective is higher, but fear not. Daniel told the King, "As for me, the secret has not been revealed to me because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but there is a God in Heaven who reveals secrets. It is He Who makes known the interpretation of your dream and makes known to you what will be (in the future)." Daniel 2
Friend, deep within you is the answer to your every question and circumstance. Believing the Word of God opens perspective and garners promotion! So, ask Holy Spirit for His words, seek for His Plan and knock for His revelation. You will amaze yourself and others! "As for God, His Word is proven. He is a shield to all who trust in Him." Psalm 18:30-32.
